Meeting the CEO!

While shopping for camp essentials at the Girl Scout Shop in Dallas, in walks the Chief Executive Officer of Girl Scouts of the USA, Anna Maria Chavez! She jumped right behind the counter and helped count all the goodies I had in my basket! She also gave each girl in our troop a beautiful Eagle 1 - CEO patch! And to top that off, we were able to get a picture with her!! A women of Courage, Confidence & Character for sure! What a treat for us!

Meeting #27 - Meal Planning & Dunk Bags

At the meeting today, the Juniors planned their menu for our upcoming camping trip! They decided what activities they wanted to do during the camp out, and what badges they wanted to earn that weekend! The Daisies worked on earning their 3rd petal - Considerate & Caring! After snack time, the girls put together their dunk bags and practiced an old tradition of using dunk stations to wash their dishes at camp! To bad washing dishes isn't always this fun! Big thank you to Emily for bringing the festive snacks to the meeting today! They were delicious!

Meeting #26 - First Badge & Petals

The Juniors earned their first badge today, Detective! They observed items that had been moved in a room, they communicated in a secret code, made their own identity card, studied handwriting details, and followed clues to solve the scavenger hunt! They all had a blast and did a great job at becoming detectives! 

The Daisies earned their first 2 petals today. They earned their Honest & Fair petal while playing musical chairs and they made a mural of Friendly & Helpful! Thank you to Madeline for bringing super cute robot snacks to the Daisy meeting today!

Investiture & Bridging Ceremony 2013

Today was a very exciting day for all of our new girls who were being invested into Girl Scout Troop 457, and for all our Brownies that were receiving their Brownie Wings and moving onto Juniors! The event started with a rainbow sand art craft, followed by refreshments for all! To begin the Ceremony, the girls introduced themselves and told a little bit about who they are. A few poems were read, we recited the Promise and lit 3 candles. After all of the new girls were invested, we recited the Law and lit 10 more candles. Each Brownie made her way up a tall staircase lined with rainbow balloons to receive her Brownie Wings and new Junior uniform! After cheers and dozens of group photos were snapped, we celebrated the event with cake! Hopefully this ceremony will be one that the girls of Troop 457 will remember forever! Congrats girls..you all did a great job during the ceremony!

Meeting #25 - First Meeting of the 2013 - 2014 Year

Today was the first meeting of the 2013 - 2014 year! The girls made their Kaper Charts, we planned the Investiture and Bridging Ceremony, and they designed their plates for our upcoming November and May camp outs. We took a bubble break and then made a Girl Scout promise and law bracelet. The Juniors had their first task as leaders - explaining and showing the Daisies how we end each meeting with our traditional Girl Scout circle.

2013 - 2014 Parent Meeting

Warm welcome back to all of our returning girls and to our 10 NEW GIRL SCOUTS!!! This year Frankie and I decided to add a Daisy level to the troop, bringing our troop to 20 girls! We are both very excited about this upcoming year with the 2 levels together! We had a pool party to kick off the year - and while the parents filled out forms and chatted about the upcoming events, the girls mingled and enjoyed a healthy snack! Welcome Back Troop 457!
