2012 Christmas Party @ Petticoat Junction

Our troop Christmas Party was held at Petticoat Junction in Greenville, Texas, and what a party it was! The girls snacked on finger foods and then made a pinch pot! Kim and Lauren taught them special techniques when working with clay and they got to make something that they can keep forever! Even the parents joined in and made pots too! They earned their Potter Badge and several fun patches! A special thank you to Petticoat Junction! We all had a wonderful time...we will be back! Merry Christmas!!

Junie B. in Jingle Bells, Batman Smells @ DCT

This was our second visit to the Dallas Children's Theater as a troop! This year we went to see Junie B. Jones in Jingle Bells, Batman Smells and it was AWESOME! After the play, the girls were able to meet with the characters and get them to sign their playbill or poster! What an amazing experience for the girls to get to interact with the characters! Dallas Children's Theater is truly one of the neatest places I have been too!

Meeting No. 17 - Thinking Like A Philanthropist!

The girls spent the first part of the meeting earning their Philanthropist badge. They made posters with things that they want and need. Notice how many items are on the want and how many on the need poster - I am proud of them!
With Christmas right around the corner, they spent the last part of the meeting making pine cone angels! They turned out BEAUTIFUL!!!

Thank you Frankie for helping lead the meeting!

Camp Bette Perot 2012

What an experience of a lifetime..in so many ways! This camping trip really brought the troop together and gave all the girls an opportunity to really get to know each other! We arrived on Friday. The girls set up their cabins, put together sandwiches, made the kaper chart, and earned their Girl Scout Ways badge. They threw a birthday bash for Juliette Gorden Low by decorating the lodge and cupcakes and made sit-upons.

After breakfast on Saturday, they took a trail ride at the Equestrian Center and then earned their first equestrian badge, Horses! Then after free time, they made spaghetti for lunch and learned how to wash dishes in their dunk bags! They earned their Senses Badge, played telephone and Kim's Game and took an archery class! For dinner, they made chicken and veggie foil packs to put over the campfire. We sang songs, threw in some funky flames, and made smores! Before bedtime on Saturday night, the girls tie-dyed t-shirts..messy but fun!

Sunday we packed up, cleaned, and finished the camping trip with a mini patch ceremony! Thank you to the parents that came and helped! It was a weekend to remember! (for the girls and adults!)
