Investiture and Re-dedication Luau

Tonight we had an awesome Investiture and Re-dedication Luau! A few weeks prior, the girls chose the theme and decided on a potluck dinner. With weeks of planning - the ceremony was a success and hopefully something the girls will remember forever! Each girl had a part in the ceremony. We re-dedicated 4 girls who have been with the troop since the start. We also invested 6 new girls who joined at the end of last year and at the beginning of this year! The girls also displayed their artwork they made to earn the painting badge!

A big thank you to Lisa at Hunt Regional Medical Center for allowing us to use your facility! And to Debbie at Hunt County Party Rentals for donating part of the rentals! We really appreciate it!!

Meeting No. 15 - Painting a Story

Today the girls finished up the last requirement of the painting badge by teaming up and painting a mural. They used a large canvas and divided it into 2 parts. Each group choose a theme that told a story they loved! Both groups did a great job with delegating tasks so each girl played a part in creating the mural! Great job girls! You earned your painting badge today!

October - Girl Scout of The Month

Every month, a member of troop 457 is featured in the "Girl Scout of the Month," section in the newsletter that is mailed out to all the girls. The Girl Scout of the month also receives a special patch!

Meeting No. 14 - Creating Masterpieces

After our photo shoot, the girls snacked on grapes and cheese as we talked about different types of artwork. It was really neat to see the girls so interested in different types of artwork! Then the fun began - creating their own artwork on canvases! They painted different types and moods and a still life! The artwork will be on display at our troops ceremony in a few weeks!

Photo Shoot in Action

Meeting No. 13 - Learning the Law!

Our 1st meeting of the year couldn't have gone better! The girls were excited to check out their new meeting spot! They made plates for their upcoming camping trip and decorated aprons to use during art projects. Then we talked about what each line in the Girl Scout promise meant. They used beads coordinating with the law (daisy petals) to make a lanyard, and made up a movement for each line! This year is going to ROCK! Thank you Frankie for taking photos during the meeting!

Playing and Paperwork

It is that time again! The start of our 2012 - 2013 year is right around the corner! The parent meeting at Aunt Chars park went great! Completed paperwork, talked about plans for the year, and introduced old and new members! Welcome back Troop 457!!! I am looking forward to a year to remember!
