Investiture Ceremony

Today was an exciting day for all 9 girls and myself! During the past few months, the girls have been learning about all of the patches and badges that go on the front of their vest. They each choose an emblem to learn about and to present at the ceremony. All of their hard work paid off...they received all of their patches and badges today!

They preformed their first flag ceremony! They also held their first candle ceremony. These candles represent the law and the promise and how they brighten the life of the Girl Scouts who observe them. Each girl lit a candle as we read the Girl Scout Promise and the Law.

Each girl received her insignia tab and pins. They were all afraid I was going to poke them when I pinned it to their vest!

Promising to carry the flame of Girl Scouting forever in their hearts, the girls gathered around the candles and softly blew them out together.

A reception followed the ceremony. Family and friends all gathered in a circle, right arm over left, and proceeded with the brownie circle ritual that the girls love. They enjoyed seeing their family participate in this fun activity. There were even a few giggles from the parents!

We are officially Girl Scouts! Congratulations!

The Park & Pottery Cafe

We hit the road with one destination in mind: The Pottery Cafe in Tyler, Texas!

We stopped at a park before heading to the cafe so the girls could run off all the energy they had from sitting in the car for so long.

The girls (and I) were so excited to finally make it to The Pottery Cafe!
The cafe was AWESOME!

First we got a tour of the cafe and then the girls had their own private party room where Susan taught the girls how to make a pinch pot.

They molded their own pots and then painted them. They all did a fabulous job!
Thank you Susan at The Pottery Cafe in Tyler, Texas - this was a great experience, we will be back soon!

Photo Shoot with Michelle Crook Photography

The girls had so much fun during their photo shoot with Michelle Crook Photography! They posed by themselves, as a troop, made funny faces, and got sassy at times! They girls did a great job listening to her instructions! We look forward to our next photo shoot with Michelle! Check out her website!!

Meeting No. 3 - Art To Wear

Today the girls learned that art doesn't just have to hang on the wall, but can also be fun to wear! The girls took turns having their faces painted by a local artist and they painted t-shirts and decorated them with buttons.
They also made masks from a lot of fun colorful craft items!

By the end of the meeting, each of the girls earned their Art to Wear Try-it!
